After 13-and-a-half years in education, she left to pursue a writing career after her first novel, A Great Deliverance, was published. George has won the Anthony Award, the Agatha Award and France's Le Grand Prix de Literature Policiere for A Great Deliverance, which also earned nominations for the Edgar® and the Macavity awards. Most of her novels have been filmed for television by the BBC and have been broadcast in the U.S. on PBS' Mystery.
