I'm glad I received notice to give a review on this book b/c I had forgotten I had it. It was well worth my purchase. For those of us who do not have the money or time to go to institutes of higher learning, this book is a great reference for those things/creatures that go bump in the night, day, evening, forest, water, air, etc. Only downside is that there should have been a pronunication key for most of the subtitles as I had to go to my wife for the correct pronunciation on fenguang. My limited Indo-European pronunication skills managed the rest (I won't know that for sure until I try to pronounce them in mixed company.). Great book! Brief and to the point with excellent illustrations, just the way I like it!

From A to Z and everything in between.

Ever watch any of the Harry Potter movies? Silly question I know, but how many of you out there drew a blank when the word "Basilisk" was mentioned? If you had a copy of The Mythic Bestiary you could have hit stop and raced to the afore mentioned book and quickly looked it up! The Mythic Bestiary is full of fantastical monsters from around the globe with some of the most fascinating insight into the world's mythologies. Highly recommended for the overly curious.

Not what I wanted to read about

The book could have been a lot more entertaining with out the constant disproving of every monster existence (if I wanted that kind of thing I wood have watched the History channel), the way they should have done it is by making the reader believe that these creatures actually exist!!!

Captivating renditions of mythical proportions

I found this book to be very informative. There were many descriptions of these mythical beasts with detailed histories of their origins. I learned many facts I did not know and all the pictures were awesome!
